Flag of Arizona            Welcome! We Will NEVER Forget!
navigation graphic My name is Mark Hawthorne. I am a retired Suffolk That's Me!County, NY Police Officer now residing in Apache Junction, Arizona. I'm 64 years old and this is my web page. It is a place where I hope to share some glimpses of life as I see it as well as some of my experiences. A webpage is not the best place to talk about daily events, so I have also started a blog which you may access by clicking here. One of the most horrible experiences we all have shared occurred on Tuesday, September 11th, 2001. The United States of America was attacked on it's own soil by faceless terrorist cowards. We all know what happened. What we must do now is NEVER FORGET. Much has happened since that fateful day. We have reminded the world that we are AMERICANS and not pushovers and we have done so with awesome force and impeccable style. Our brave men and women serving in our Armed Forces deserve the complete support of "We the People" and the steadfast support of our government. Let's do all we can to ensure they get it.

February 21st, 2007: I lost my best friend today, my dog Tres. Despite intensive chemo therapy treatments, he succumbed to B-Cell Lymphatic cancer. He was brave to the end and did his best to cope but the cancer was finally too much for him. Please go to the Picture Gallery section of this webpage to see his Memorial. Rest in Peace my Forever Friend.

It has taken me almost two years to update this page on our dog Daisey. I would just get too depressed everytime I started it. Not even five months after Tres died, Daisey died too. She died of an embolism which was quick and merciful. She had not been feeling good for a couple of days so my wife took her to the Vet who said she needed 24 hour around the clock observation and testing. I hugged Daisey and kissed her and told her everything would be OK before she left. Two days later the Vet phoned and said she had died suddenly. I was totally stunned and wholly depressed. Daisey was just a big old girl who loved life and loved seeing her family together and happy. Rest in Peace, Daisey. You will be in our hearts forever. We will NEVER forget you. Please go to the Picture Gallery section to see Daisey's memorial. God Bless You, Good Girl.

On June 5th, 2004, America lost one of our greatest Presidents. Ronald Wilson Reagan was truly a man of and for the People. He was the 40th President of our country. He passed on at the age of 93. We shall all miss you Mr. President Reagan. May God Bless you, and, as you have always said, May God Bless America.

          You will always be remembered.

I am interested in pistol shooting, skeet shooting, desert off-roading, motorcycling, fishing and camping and American Pit Bull Terriers. I'm also a licensed Amateur Radio Operator (N2AYB). For those of you that are Amateur Radio Operators, I hope you have checked out EchoLink and the Internet Radio Linking Project (IRLP). EchoLink and IRLP are the neatest things to come down the pike in a long, long while. Through IRLP you can use a handi talkie (if you are in range of the repeater) and literally talk all over the world. With EchoLink you can go computer to computer or via radio through a link or repeater site. The audio quality is superb. Give EchoLink and IRLP a try - you'll be hooked immediately! For more information on how to use IRLP and how to find a node near you, scroll almost to the middle of the IRLP page and locate "Node Status". Click here to get to the IRLP page. For information on EchoLink Click here.

It's a scanner!Speaking of radio, if you're a scanner buff, you can find out what's going on in the police and fire departments in your neighborhood just by listening. Scanner listening can give you behind the scenes information about what's really happening in your community. If you have a portable scanner (the kind you can carry with you) make sure you check your local laws before you take it in a motor vehicle with you. It is against the law to do so in many states unless you are properly licensed. Otherwise, it's an enjoyable pastime!

Take a look at my Picture Gallery. In there, you'll see some family, friends, faces and places. It gets updated as new pictures come in. Arizona is a beautiful place to take pictures!
